About Us

The Blandford Forum Railway Club was formed in December 2014 and was previously known as the Blandford Museum Railway Club.

The Club moved to the Scout Hall which is situated in Eaglehouse Gardens Blandford Forum in January 2015, and is a spacious facility well suited to our needs. The reason for the move was due to the club expanding and outgrowing the space allocated to it in the Town Museum. With the club growing the Museum could not keep pace with the clubs needs.

General club information

The club is a friendly meeting place for all ages who have a railway interest, be it modelling, scenic railway construction or running their own locomotives past and present or simply watching videos in comfort. Meetings are held every Wednesday morning between 8.30am and 1.00pm at the Scout Hut, Eagle House Gardens, Blandford, Dorset, DT11 7BS.

Areas of interest:

1. A modelling interest section which covers N, O and OO gauge layouts. This includes building layout boards with scenic detail to a particular railway theme for the club’s own open day and the model railway exhibition circuit.

2. Running track facilities for O, OO gauge (both Analog and DCC) that enables members to bring along and run their own selection of locomotives and rolling stock.

3. A video club section showing historic steam and more recent Diesel and Electric motive power to date on the rail system.
4. From time to time additional guests are invited to give talks to the members on many aspects of railway interest.
