This layout is based on the busy site of the now extinct United Dairies Milk Processing Factory based at Sturminster Marshall on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway which produced quality Cheddar cheese, milk powder and whey feed using milk collected from local farms in the surrounding area. The excess bulk liquid milk products were transported by road and rail tankers each day from the site.

Rail tankers were dispatched daily to the bottling plant at Surbiton, London overnight via Templecombe together with additional rail tankers from Somerset, Devon and Cornwall  to satisfy the bottled milk requirement in and around the London area. This was an important source of revenue for the Somerset and Dorset Joint railway.
