Dorbury North Model Railway

Dorbury North – N gauge

·  The Layout is loosely based on an LMS style local station on the scenic Settle and Carlisle Railway in Yorkshire.

  • The layout in an unfinished state with ageing rail and point work was donated to the Blandford Railway Club in 2015. Club members set about replacing all rail, points and point motors and new control panels. Work has continued on the scenic areas of the layout and is still being upgraded with the addition of semaphore signals.

  • Semaphore signals to be driven by micro servos fitted under the baseboard and operated by toggle switches mounted on the control panels. MERG servo drivers to be used.  (Future implementation).

  • Demonstrating what can be achieved on a standard door of 6ft 6in by 2ft 6in the layout became aptly named Dorbury North.

  • The Blandford Railway Club has steadily been building up an exhibition set of steam locomotive stock of mainly LMS / BR Midland origin typical of the 1950’s and 1960’s period on the Settle and Carlisle line supplement by a mixture of club member’s property.

  • Dual DC controllers drive locos with switches on control panel for Zone isolation.
